Phone Witnessing...
by RichieRich inin my congregation, there is a well established group that does phone witnessing every thursday.
the society actually encourages us to try other avenues of ministry, however it seems like phone witnessing is hurting more than its helping.... even i, the covert apostate, don't mind phone witnessing.
i mean whats not to love?air conditioningfoodsitting around and talkinggirlsdid i mention food?.

by undercover ini posted this on another thread...but i think it needs its own thread so we can all add our own ideas on how to make this work.... .
ya know, i'm gonna start an internet religion.
i'm gonna claim to be god's one true messenger and since the world is going online, the lord has revealed to me that the truth can be found only on my website.

I remember when Father Guido Sarducci was going to start the People's Catholic Church, everyone got to be Pope. Can I be the Pope?

A Religion in Massive Denial ( Wt 8/15)
by metatron inthe latest watchtower contains one of those statements that makes you gasp in astonishment.
in the main study article.
it says that jehovah's witnesses have "been labeled false prophets" - and that they are accused of being out of touch with reality,.

I asked my sister about this to which I got the reply, "some ran ahead of themselves." I almost spit out my coffee at that one. I was WTF does that mean? She tells me that some brothers got a little carried away, and I replied, you mean the ones on the Governing Body, Writing, and Service departments because that is where this crap came from? To which of course I got the blank stare and something about debating with non-believers which effectively ended the conversation.
This is the same sister that back in the 80's told me that if the end didn't come by the year 2000 she was going to have some serious thinking to do, I guess denial is better than thinking. And she is smart, 4.0 in high school etc. Never, ever, ever, underestimate the power of denial.

When partners lie
by Es inheya all, im in a bit of a situation, i have just found out that my partner lied to me about an incident with his family, i am having a lot of trouble with his family at the moment, which then in turn is casusing major troubles with him and me.
anyway it wasnt the worst lie out and he said he did it to protect me and to avoid another arguement with us which yes i can understand.
but he bluntly lied to me which in the end has caused more problems as i am having major trust issues right now.

WLG, I hear you man. But are any of us honest 100 percent of the time? And that includes errors of omission as well as out right lies. It is all just part of our nature as humans, warts and all. I agree trust is a huge issue, but that's where I distinguish with lies too, did they lie about something that was a matter of trust between you (i.e. we pledged to be exclusive and I slept with someone else and lied about it) or was the lie about some other issue that didn't involve a direct breach of trust between us. Some would say any lie is a breach of trust but I think that is a bit harsh, as we all use the examples of someone looking like shit and asking you how they look and we say, oh fine. So I guess my lie thing is why did they lie, and what did they lie about, and forgiving them like we forgive people for all sort of crap they do.

JWD Awards??
by RichieRich inso, i was thinkin, and got hit with a good idea.
everyone whos been here for more than a week has posters that they love, and posters that they loathe.
some make laugh, some make us cry, and some drive us right up the wall.... so to honor that, i think we should have some sort of jwd award session... (should simon approve).

I think its like those questions we ask on cross examinations, isn't it possible that it happened this way blah, blah, blah. I think its possible, just that it doesn't happen very often. Most of the time one or both want to be intimate, it is the unusual case where neither are sexually attracted to the other.

The word "irrepressible" comes to mind Brooke. You just seem to have sort of a boundless energy about you.

People lie for many different reasons I've found. I think the motive behind the lie is what is important. Did they lie to protect your feelings, to try and smooth things over, to gain some advantage, etc.
